Wall Street Journal's 2010 Technology Innovation Awards: Overall Silver Award and Medical Devices Category Winner
Each year, the Wall Street Journal bestows its Technology Innovation Awards to those innovations that "…break with conventional ideas or processes...go beyond marginal improvement on something that already exists...and will have a wide impact on future technology...." For 2010, nearly 600 applications were submitted from companies, organizations and individuals from 30 countries around the world. These innovations were judged by an independent panel of leaders from venture capital firms, research institutions and technology companies.
Superfocus glasses were named the overall Silver Award Winner of this prestigious and coveted award as well as the Winner of the Medical Devices Category, besting entries from MIT and Abbott Laboratories.
According to The Wall Street Journal, "The judges praised the potential large-scale benefit of TruFocals. Richard S. Lang, one of the judges and a physician at the Cleveland Clinic, called the technology a paradigm shift in the way it addresses a problem 'that has been handled the same way for many years.'"
